As anyone that still reads this probably knows, I recently decided to part ways with my 240SX project. In was not a decision that I took lightly, and I have caught my fair amount of flack for doing so, but it simply felt like the right timing in my life to move on. I enjoyed building this car immensely, and met lots of great people along the way.

Saturday will be the four year anniversary of the day I bought the car. Shortly after deciding to move forward with the partout, I got a text from a Zilvia member that happened to be in town from Madison, WI and wanted to buy my complete kouki 180SX aero while he was here that night. The opportunity to avoid shipping all of that stuff was too good to pass up, so I agreed. I rushed home from work, gave the car a quick wash (it was still filthy from my trip to Illinois) and took it out for one last cruise.

The photos you see below took place after the wash and before my final drive in the S13. I took as many snaps as I could, then headed out onto the freeway for a few final rips before taking it all apart. After breaking a couple of traffic laws and driving like more of a jerk than I ever have in my life, I pulled it in the garage and turned the key off for the final time. Man, this is kind of depressing, lol. The tear down process began that night.

Anyway, here are the photos that I feel turned out decent. I’m no photographer, but I had a good time with it. With that, I give you the final photoshoot! October 15th, 2012.

I met a gentlemen by the name of Loren at Toby’s Nissan BBQ who also happens to own an SR swapped black 240 hatch- super cool dude. He offered to take some snaps of Kyle and I’s cars for us, and this is what he came up with. I’m really impressed with his work! Thanks for the shots Loren, appreciate it!

For the third year in a row since I have known those guys, I decided to make the trek down to Toby’s place for his annual Nissan BBQ. It’s usually a small gathering of primarily Illinois 240 dudes, with a few other cars thrown in from time to time. Always a good group of people and fun to hang out with my friends down there.

I’m always nervous about a long trip like this in the 240, but to this day it hasn’t let me down on a long road trip. Despite the dribbles of coolant, oil, and trans fluid on the garage floor the night before my departure, as well as a rubbing rear wheel and a front wheel with a slow leak, I decided to give it a shot. I tossed a few random tools in the car for good measure and let the car warm up in the driveway for a bit early on Friday morning.

It was for sure cold out, but it didn’t seem too crazy. I think it was about 50 or so when I left. I gassed up in town (while being asked what kind of car it is and if I race it, of course) before jumping on the freeway and heading West. As is customary in my part of the country, a lifted Diesel truck decided to get in front of me and play the song of his people for me for about a mile, spewing black smoke in my path the entire way. Kind and import-loving people, those Michiganders.

Despite the rear wheel hitting the inside of the chassis occasionally on large bumps and a myriad of random vibrating/squeaking noises, the drive seemed to be going pretty well. It was cloudy but rain free, which was a plus. I did foresee the need for wipers after my recent rainy drive, so I was happy to have those installed on the car again. The lack of heater core was really becoming a bummer, though.

About four hours into the drive, I hit some rain. Thankfully it was never too heavy and didn’t really cause any issues. Very comforting to have the fuse boxes inside of the car, as opposed to in the fender wells in the past.

When things get flat and all you see are cornfields, you know it is almost party time.

After about five hours and forty-five minutes, I arrived at Toby’s shop. For some reason I didn’t really take too many pictures past this point in the trip, but I know someone at the BBQ took some really nice shots. I’ll be sure to post them up when I get them.

Fortunately, the drive home was rather uneventful as well, aside from kids trying to race me while I was trying to eat McDonald’s. Never a good time, lol.

Sadly, despite this being only one of two big drives I took the car on this summer, the weather seems to be taking a turn for the worse. I’ll probably only have the car out for another couple of weeks, and then it will be time to tuck her away for the season. It’s just too cold to drive this thing in 30 degree temps without heat, haha. I’ll be sure to get a few more updates in before the time comes, though. Thanks for reading!

Finally got this thing in decent enough shape to try taking it out for a spin on the main roads. It seems to be running well, but the alignment is pretty jacked up. Still rubbing a bit on all four corners, so I’ve got to spend some time with fine tuning the alignment this week. Always moving at a snail’s pace these days, but family time comes first!

Three and a half weeks until my trip down to visit Kyle and Toby, so I’ve gotta have this thing ready for the six or so hour drive by then. If you’re an Instagram user, feel free to check me out @camryonbronze. I have found myself posting there more lately than here. Thanks for reading!

I finally got the front height/fitment adjusted last night, and everything is now more or less ready to roll. I need to do a proper alignment to set the toe all around, so I’ll probably build some sort of string contraption at home and try to do it myself.

Looking forward to cruising in it this weekend! It’s been a long time.

Spent a rare free evening last night getting the car back on the ground. Still need to do an alignment all around, but I am more or less ready to roll now! And it’s only the end of August, lol.

Managed to get the wheels on the car yesterday while babysitting the little one, so I was pretty happy about that! I didn’t leave the compound to take pics because there was a super bad accident on the highway by my house, and all traffic both directions was being routed past my neighborhood. Sorry about the pics sucking, the location being the same as always, and the car being dirty. I’ll have to give it another try soon!

It’s cool to see the crappy Photoshopped pics I have been making for months come to life, lol! I am really happy with the look of the car right now. I’ve still got some fine tuning to do with height and camber before I get the car in for an alignment. I am going to finally start on the Ikeya FLCAs tonight if things so my way!

My wheels arrived from WheelFlip last night! I took them and had the tires mounted up this morning. Hoping to get the ride height and everything dialed in over the weekend and snap some pics. Decent shots of them on the car will be coming soon!
