Oh Snap…

My wife worked from home today and sent me these pics- I can’t wait to see them and get them all mounted up! Additional bonus teaser pic for anyone left that might occasionally check this- thanks for looking if you do!

(Unfortunately, these images were lost due to me using ImageShack at the time… poor choice.)

More soon…

For Brian HARTE

So my wife and I drove down to Savannah, Georgia to see my sister-in-law last weekend. We drove her Acura down there for her, so that was not too exciting. BUT, I did happen upon some cool airplane stuff- so I thought I would post it for BH. Mostly because I haven’t updated this in forever…

While we were outside waiting to go check out the campus, five jets flew over and did some sky writing advertising an air show. I had never seen anything like this before- pretty cool. I’m sure they were some kind of F-Somethings, but I have no idea:

We wanted to go to the air show, but it was 90 miles away. :/ Bummer.

Then, on the flight home, we had some boss-spec Recaro seats on the plane. This was the holder for the tray table:

Turns out Air-Tran is baller. Who knew?

TE37s in USA one week from today. I hope.

500 Mile Weekend…

We had a very strange heat wave pass through the mitten this weekend, so Alicia and I took full advantage of the weather by taking the Rat Ride out to the GVSU car show on Saturday to hang out on campus & see some old friends. It ended up being a really good time!

It was just under fifty degrees out Saturday morning when I busted the hose out for the first wash of the season- not super nice. It warmed up to about 70 and the sun came out in the afternoon though, so that was very awesome.

I won best import, lol.

Afterward, Alicia and I went out to Grand Haven to hang out at the beach on Lake Michigan. We cruised around down town and grabbed some dinner before heading home back East. Pretty awesome weekend!

I should have a status report on the TEs later this week. At this point, I just need to cut and install the rear seat panels for the cage, toss the wheels and tires on when they arrive, and fix a trans fluid leak from the speed sensor. I want to make sure the car is running really well before Import Alliance in July. Looking forward to more driving and updates very soon.

First Drive 2011

I was fortunate enough to drive my car into the office yesterday for the first time of 2011. It was pretty nice to drive it again, even if the front bumper and lip are not on the car. I actually thought it was broken because of how loud it is- I completely forgot what the car sounds like!

I guess the fenders, headlight covers, bumper, and lip are going to be out of paint by a week from today. I wouldn’t be surprised if that spills over into the next week. My new Bride will be here Tuesday, so that is exciting. Still waiting on the TEs…

Spring Please…

I took the front end off of the car last night. I got a cleaner set of front fenders from my spare shell, so I am going to roll those and have them painted with my lip, bumper, and headlight covers. That way the front end will be all minty fresh and free of rock chips when it comes out in the spring!

My wife will be with some friends next weekend, so I am planning to get all of the front suspension back together then. As soon as the wheels arrive- which should be in about two weeks- I will get the tires mounted and get it back on the ground. After that, I will just be waiting on my new Zeta to show up in early April- then the snow will be gone and it will be time to rock! I can’t wait!

As of yesterday, the cage is all bolted in and installed. Just working on finishing up the interior installation and that side of things will be all set!

I guess my cross bar is backwards, so I fixed that.

Tie rods and roll center adjusters are on the way for the front, so that is the next project- gotta get all of that back together before the the week of the 22nd, since that is when my wheels are supposed to arrive- hopefully they are right on schedule! I can’t wait.

If I have the time after that stuff is done, I am hoping to have my front bumper, lip, and a better set of front fenders painted and installed. Then it should be totally ready for spring and looking good. I might add N1 vents while I am at it, but I am undecided.

As for the shell, I decided to sell it- want to focus on making the Rat Ride cooler instead of spending more money on another car. It should hopefully be gone sometime in march!

New Shell!

Long story short, I am picking up a 90 SE hatch rolling chassis from a friend on Thursday night. I am probably going to save up for an SR and get it on the road in the spring of 2012. This will be a very long-term, low budget build if anything- unlike my black car. Hoping to give drifting a try when it is finished and on the road. If drifting is not cool anymore by the time that happens, I’ll probably just sell it. lol.

Here are some pics. Pretty clean overall!

Let the cleaning/interior painting/cash saving begin!

In other news, the Cusco cage is on it’s way from Chicago right now. It should be here on Friday. I’ll be traveling to Normal, IL this weekend to see Toby and Kyle, but I will start installing that next week!

Waiting…

I guess my cage is in port awaiting customs clearance, and then it will make the 5 day trip to my door. A couple other goodies are on the way, but nothing too crazy.

Cusco!

CUSCO. Showed up today, new in packaging. Pretty cool!

I also picked up my tires tonight- Yokoham S Drives in 225/40/18 R and 215/40/17 F. If only the wheels were here to put them on!

Quick snap I took last weekend before the big snow storm hit…
